CPR First Aid Training Frequently Asked Questions:

Is CPR First Aid Training required by law?

OSHA’s standard for first aid training in general industry, 29 CFR 1910.151(b), provides:

In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.

According to OSHA, in the construction industry, 29 CFR 1926.50(c) provides:

In the absence of an infirmary clinic, hospital, or physician, that is reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite, which is available for the treatment of injured employees, a person who has a valid certificate in first-aid training from the U.S. Bureau of Mines, the American Red Cross, or equivalent training that can be verified by documentary evidence, shall be available at the worksite to render first aid.

How long is my CPR First Aid certification good for?

Most CPR certifications must typically be refreshed within one year.  First Aid Certification is valid for three years.

What is CPR First Aid Training?

CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and it is a life-saving emergency procedure that combines chest compressions and artificial ventilation to preserve brain function until emergency services can perform further methods of life preservation.  Our CPR First Aid training will also provide your employees with important knowledge regarding an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

How do I know which CPR First Aid course I need?

There are not a multitude of class options when it comes to CPR First Aid Training; it either is CPR First Aid, or it isn’t.  This is one class that’s an easy selection to make.

How do I know if I need CPR First Aid Training?

OSHA recommends but does not require CPR First Aid Training for any person that will be conducting work where there is not a clinic, hospital or infirmary nearby.  If you work on a jobsite and this also applies to where the job is located, OSHA recommends having at least one certified CPR First Aid person on-site for emergencies.  Why take the risk?  If you were someone who needed emergency help on a job, whether it be for an injury or lack of oxygen, you’d be eternally grateful that there was a CPR First Aid certified person right there to save your life.

Can I do CPR First Aid Training online?

Online training does not lead to official OSHA certification because to be properly trained in CPR, one must physically interact with and practice the life-saving skills on a dummy provided during training.  This is the best way to ensure proper technique.

How can I become CPR First Aid certified?

The best way to become certified is by getting educated in a CPR First Aid Training Course.  In just a few short hours, you will have the skills you need to potentially save the life of a friend, child, coworker or family member.  Everyone will be grateful, and you’ll feel confident you can help until paramedics arrive.
