With 5 safety trainers working full-time on staff, we have the flexibility to react to your training need, when you need it!

Most of our training courses are not listed as open enrollment style courses. The reason is we have found over the years they are very hard to fill, and we would rather not have to cancel the course.

You can view all of the safety training courses we offer by clicking here!

EPA Lead Renovator Initial Certification Training Courses

EPA Lead Renovator Training Initial Certification Overview:

Because of the EPA RRP rule, we offer EPA Lead Renovator Training Initial Certification every week!  Did you know that the EPA is requiring Lead Renovator Training? As a result, Lead Renovator Training is required if your company is working in homes built prior to 1978. Therefore, your company must have one certified lead renovator. Because of these requirements, we offer EPA Lead Renovator Training Initial Certification to help keep your firm in compliance.

Description:

Our 8 hour EPA Lead Renovator Training Initial Certification course was developed using the curriculum that is provided jointly by: United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

For the first portion of the course we cover the 8 modules required by the joint curriculum:

  1. Why Should I Be Concerned About Lead Paint?
  2. Regulations
  3. Before Beginning Work
  4. Contain Dust During Work
  5. During the Work
  6. Cleaning Activities and Checking Your Work
  7. Record Keeping
  8. Training Non-Certified Renovation Workers

After completing the classroom portion we then move on to the interactive hands on portion of the training. You will master all 11 skills required:

  1. Using EPA Recognized Test Kits and Paint Chip Sample Collection Procedures
  2. Setting up Barriers, Signs, and Flapped Entry Doors
  3. Cover or Remove Furniture
  4. Establish Interior Containment
  5. Establish Exterior Containment
  6. Personal Protective Equipment
  7. Interior Final Cleaning
  8. Exterior Final Cleaning
  9. Bagging Waste
  10. Visual Inspection
  11. Cleaning Verification Procedure

After mastering each skill set we will have a short review, then a test.

Why do you need this training?

As a result of the EPA RRP rule. If your company is performing work in homes and child-occupied facilities built prior to 1978.  Your firm must employ at least one Certified Renovator. In addition, your firm must be registered as a Lead Safe Certified Firm with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

What is considered qualifying work?

As a result of the rule, beginning in April 2010.  When you are performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in:

  • Homes
  • Child Care Facilities
  • Schools

Therefore, a supervisor must be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination!

How do you ensure you are complying?

Because of the EPA RRP rule there are 5 steps to be sure you comply:

  1. First, get registered for an EPA-approved lead renovator training course.
  2. Furthermore, you must apply to EPA to become a certified firm.
  3. Your company must have a representative complete the lead renovator training.
  4. In addition you must pass the 25-question certification exam.
  5. Finally, receive your approval from the EPA.

Who should attend from your company?

  • Owner
  • President
  • Operations Manager
  • Production Supervisors
  • Production Workers

Therefore, if you own a qualifying business, you need to attend this course! As a result of the rule, fines can be as high as $37,500 per violation! Consequently, understanding this rule shouldn’t be delegated.  Most importantly, we go beyond the basics and will give you several tools to stay in compliance as well as protect your increased liability.

How Did We Come Up with Our Schedule?

We have been testing how to increase enrollment and be able to confirm classes now for the last 3 years.  Based on our success and resource availability, we update our Safety Training Calendar annually.

How Do We Decide to Confirm a Course?

We try not to cancel a course more than one time.  However, we have to at least cover our cost to teach the training course. Based off of past sales and location we will confirm a course generally when we reach 5 registrants. We offer worry-free registration and will refund your money if you are unable to attend or need to find a date that is sooner than our next class.

What Courses Does My Company Need?

That really depends on your industry and what type of work you do within that industry. We always recommend conducting a job safety analysis by job type. Once you have finished those, you will then have most of the training that is needed to keep your workers safe.  Based off experience we are generally able to give you a list of training that you will be required to conduct by frequency. Remember, you don’t have to have all your training completed to work safe! Simply download our free JSA form, have your supervisor fill it out each day and review it with everyone working prior to work commencing.  This will at least give everyone knowledge of the hazards they face prior to facing them.

It is important to take care of your highest risk training topics first, and then move into the required topics.

Is OSHA Outreach Training All We Need?

Unfortunately, typically not.  Although, we can tailor OSHA training to your industry and get a lot of your required topics covered within it.  You should always have a strong safety orientation program as it is your opportunity to set the tone for safety.  As a result, typically most companies have specific machinery, tools, and equipment that they will need training for.  Also, most companies need to ensure there is an emergency action plan in place.

A good rule of thumb for OSHA training is to have all of your non-supervisors complete the OSHA 10 Hour training prior to working. Supervisors should complete the OSHA 30 Hour Construction prior to working.

Do You Have a Training Guarantee?

Yes, we guarantee to provide a professional, experienced trainer, who will deliver a interactive training experience. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, we will refund your money and credit your account the price of the course.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to the training date, we will refund your money.  If you cancel your training within 7 days of the course, you will be charged a re-booking fee of $150.  No Call/No Shows forfeit registration fees for the course and are charged a full registration fee to reschedule.  Cancellations due to family emergencies and natural disasters will be rescheduled.

Courses are guaranteed and confirmed unless there is an emergency.  This may include but is not limited to weather, instructor illness, travel interruptions beyond our control, etc.  In the event your course is canceled, you will be contacted via event update, text, and/or email using the details of your registration.  You will be rescheduled.

The EPA requires a minimum of 3 students to conduct a training course.  Courses with fewer than 3 students up to two weeks before the scheduled course date are subject to potential cancelation.  You will be notified and rescheduled.  As often as possible, this will only happen on time per student if it occurs.
